Jenni Byrne + Associates (JB+A) is one of Canada’s leading full-service public affairs and government relations firm. We’re based in Toronto, Ontario, but we have staff who work from coast to coast. We provide a wide range of clientele with the expertise and knowledge they need to effectively navigate some of the most complex communications and public policy issues their organizations are facing.

Working at Jenni Byrne + Associates means working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, while possessing a strong understanding of how Government works and operates and being able to boil down complex policy-making decisions into easy-to-understand terms. An associate at JB+A must also recognize how to build and maintain government and stakeholder relationships, use political judgement when advising clients, and be able to skillfully communicate orally and in written form. In this role, you would be joining a team that specializes in government relations, strategic communications planning, crisis management, public relations and media training.

  • Being able to work on multiple issues simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong understanding of how the government operates and knowledge of provincial and national politics.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a commitment to teamwork and relationship building. 
  • Acute understanding of how to conduct research and analyze data.
  • Preparing eye-catching presentations, correspondence, briefing notes, speaking points, and other content for clients. 
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Monitoring and following government agendas and activities across multiple policy areas as well as in the media.
  • Self-motivated with a growth-oriented mindset.
  • Skilled in verbal communications and delivering presentations to diverse audiences.

Our ideal candidate has 1-2 years of experience working in politics, public affairs, or government, and has a solid understanding of how governments in Canada operate. A college or university degree in a field related to public affairs (political science, public policy, public administration, etc.) is an asset, but not required. 

An Associate located in Toronto, Ottawa or Edmonton is optimal but not necessary. The candidate must be able to work full-time Eastern time zone hours.
